A Moroccan Chill Out Area

Moroccan Chill Out Area-8

Having just completed an art deco styled redesigned garden for this client we were asked to turn our attention to a covered area in the garden which had been constructed years before but which was never used.  The client wanted us to re-imagine the area and create an outdoor space which could be enjoyed by the family all year round.

This outside area was very open, bare and it required a little more than just a face lift.  An old fire place was in poor condition and the lighting was very minimal so we decided to revamp and create a warmer attractive area which looked inviting from all aspects of the garden and from the house.

A Moroccan theme design concept was chosen for its laid back chilled out vibe, created using design features such as coloured lamps, urns, coloured cushions and architectural planting.  Abstract laser cut wall art was design and imported from London to take the bare look from the white walls. We imported wall lamps, lanterns and a silver coffee table from Morocco and added multi-coloured water proof cushions for the overall effect.

A specimen date Palm, Silver Astillia, Tomatoes, Jasmin and Grapes (which fruited this year) all added to the softening of the space. The fireplace was rebuilt and is now in perfect order. We designed and installed a metal bespoke piece of wall art in which to store logs and placed it so that it could be viewed from the dining room. Dimmable mood lighting enhances the area at night and even in the colder months, the family are now drawn in to use the space. A projector screen will be installed in the summer for alfresco family gatherings.
